What would happen to the Bitcoin network if miners start to quit?

Hi everybody! Hope everyone is doing well with everything going on at the moment.

I have a question. As we know, the price of energy (and a lot of other things :( ) is currently going up while the price of Bitcoin has been going lower. What would happen if the combination of both of those things made it unprofitable for miners? Would the network grind to a halt due to the lack of miners, or is there something I'm missing here? Another concern I have is that with less total hashrate because of those circumstances, would the Bitcoin network be more susceptible to an attack like the 51%?

Edit: I wasn't aware that the network adjusted difficulty depending on the number of miners. Thank you for those who answered! I'm still learning :)
